The Game

CHKN is an open-world sandbox game where you have the power to create life block by block. Create your own adventure by bonding with your creature to form an emotional relationship. Venture into dangerous lands to explore and collect resources. Experience the freedom of a creation and the enjoyment of emotional interaction with a mischievous sense of humor and experimentation. It’s survival of the strangest.

MODES:

Creative Mode: This mode gives you access to everything in the game right from the start. There are no limits and no rules, just pure experimentation. Your inventory is stocked with every life block and item available in the game for easy browsing and building.

Adventure Mode: (coming soon) You start off with nothing and have to find resources and blocks to use. In an effort to survive you are tasked with creating creatures and using them to build a homestead, explore the world, and gather resources. Discover multiple biomes populated by creatures unique to that environment. Survive by building a society of creatures. Venture into dangerous lands to rid the planet of poachers, evil beings attempting to steal the valuable resources of the planet.

Multiplayer: You host your own game and invite players in through Steam’s SDK and IP address. Gameplay remains creative or adventure, with just the addition of playing together. You make your own rules, either playing together as Co-Op or against each other in PvP. It’s completely up to you to creature your own story.

Current Builds vs. Future Builds

Some information in this wiki does not apply to the current Free Alpha Demo Download because it is planned for future builds. We just want you to realize this when you begin playing the game. As you can see by the wiki, we have a lot planned! So please give us feedback.

The World

(Biomes are coming soon. Will be added in the future. Some facts may change.)

This unique planet is made of different biomes which are defined by climate and dominant vegetation. There are grasslands, beaches, forests, canyons, mountains, jungles, deserts, and volcanoes. Each biome has their own generated creatures that thrive in that climate. For example, creatures in the tundra will have fur to withstand the cold.

Each biome requires a strategy to survive, such as bringing ample food and water to the desert. The creatures that accompany you must be able to store enough resources and withstand the elements or they will die. Biomes progress in difficulty and survivability.

TIER ONE: Grassland, Beach.

TIER TWO: Forest, Canyon, Mountainous.

TIER THREE: Jungle, Desert, Tundra.

TIER FOUR: Volcanic, Polluted.

Generated inside each biome are interest points, such as ruins, dungeons, and villages. These areas have a higher chance of producing unique life blocks and other special items. The day/night cycle is important to your survival. At night, poachers have an increased chance to raid your homestead in the cover of darkness. Nocturnal creatures are also only active at night.

Life blocks

Life blocks are literally the building blocks of life. They are obtained by defeating a wild creature and picking up its pieces, or by gathering life blocks from eggs. Each block as a set of stats and a specific function associated with them. Eyes allow them to see, ears to hear, limbs to move quicker, etc. Depending on the stats of the block, they can increase the creature's health and energy burn rate. The distance an eye can see and the strength of a bite are also examples of lifeblock variables. Rare lifeblocks can have increased stats or special abilities. Lifeblocks can be converted into a hamburger with a stove and creatures can eat lifeblocks raw.

Life block accessories are additional parts that can be added to your creatures to give them some extra style and stat boosts. These parts do not belong to full-fledged creatures, but are considered separate entities.

Structure blocks are simply that - structure blocks, used to build homes and whatever else the imagination can come up with. Materials are obtained from scouting the land to chop down trees or mine rocks. What makes structure blocks unique, however, is their smart placement mechanic; walls are typically 3x3x1 blocks, but if there is a space that is smaller than the given block, it will transform itself automatically to fit inside that space. This feature can create a seamless flow in the wall, and help cut down on building time. There are different styles of structure blocks, such as wooden, stucco, and stone; and include doors, windows, walls, floors, roofs, fences, and gates.

Structure block accessories are additional objects that can help accent your structures, and/or also provide you with your crafting needs.
